OK, this time I’m really going to do this. I have all these thoughts and opinions and I never get them out there. Well here it goes. I’m really, really going to start writing on here again and making an effort to promote it. I also want to broaden the scope of what I pontificate about. (Yea that was a big word, WHEW!) I’m still going to complain about Man United, the Capitals, Pirates, Wizards and most of all the Dolphins, yea I know, they’re easy prey, but I’m also going to give my opinions on current topics. Not just the easy ones either. Race, Feminism and why are people so stupid when they get behind the wheel of a car are all on my agenda. So sit back, enjoy and watch the fireworks … hopefully.
I am going to do this, I really am.
I have heard several times in the past few days that the best way to get into writing is to write. Just do it. So here it goes … again. I am going to try and start doing this on a more regular basis just to write. Even if no one is listening.
We see so much crap every day in our lives and in the media that it is hard not to be cynical. We hear about Aurora, Syria and the latest missing blonde coed and wonder what the hell is this world coming to? But just when you think there is no hope for the human population at large, you read something like this. thank you internet for reminding me that the vast majority of people are good and honest and caring even though sometimes it doesn’t seem like it. That the jerk that has to get one more car in front or the dude that can’t say thank you when you hold the door or the young girl on the phone instead of paying attention to her driving isn’t the norm. We are. The caring and considerate and the heavens help us when we aren’t.
As a sports fan, a good deal of time is spent complaining and ranting about the injustice of it all when my team loses and gloating when they win but every once and a while an event happens that transcends sports and reminds us that life is precious and what’s really important is who you watch the game with and not the outcome.
Proud? Sad? Conflicted? Embarrassed? These are some of the feelings I had when I heard the news. Justice was served, I guess. I wonder if I was the only one that conjured images of some of the Arab world rejoicing and celebrating when the attacks happened. I personally was embarrassed especially with the images of small children holding signs that said horay he’s dead. Really? Is this the message of hate we want to teach the next generation. We call them heathens and evil and then turn around and act exactly the same way. I even was slightly saddened that even more lives were taken in a senseless and barbaric way. We are supposed to be an evolved species but when we can’t agree on something we resort to killing and conquest all in the name of morality. Like our ideals are more important than someone else’s. Don’t get me wrong, I agree that what happened on September 11 was evil and not something the people of NY, Washington and PA deserved. We didn’t bring it on ourselves no matter what stupidity our government was involved in in Afghanistan. I guess what I am saying is I have a lot of very mixed emotions about this and I wonder when the human race will, if ever, get past this mentality of distrust and intolerance. Maybe when the next species evolves on this planet.
I decided to start this up again. I’ll try to update more regularly with random thoughts and opinions.
I see the fear mongering media is at it again. First it was bird flu and now it is swine flu. This “epidemic” has been going on for about a month and there have been 0 deaths and 20 cases in the United States. There have been a little over a hundred deaths in Mexico. So just to be safe let’s say, world wide there have been 200 deaths from this strain of the flu. In that same time, around 1,600 people in the United States alone have died from the everyday, garden variety of the flu. World wide the death toll from the flu is around 12,500 in that same time. These statistics don’t even include pneumonia which often times the flu turns into. Add that in and it’s around 5,300 deaths in that same time period in the United States alone. This is just another example of the media whipping the population into a frenzy over nothing.
How does this company stay in business when they are so unbelievably frustrating? I’m not going to mention iTunes because I could go on a week long rant about that piece of crap program. Yesterday I see someone post on twitter that there is a new beta version of Safari. So I follow the link and all I can download is the old version. OK weird maybe there is something about the tiny url. Nope, I start over at the beginning of the apple site and follow the links and get to the same page with just the old download. Now if they had a problem with the download or the file, that’s cool. I’m a developer. I get that sometimes there are issue. But if so THEN PUT UP A DAMN MESSAGE SAYING SO! Don’t take me to the old version with no explanation. I am so looking forward to someone coming out with a Apple killer device so we don’t have to put up with this crap any more.
What the hell is wrong with Apple and why is their shit so popular? Yea everything they make IS cool but for the most part it is buggy, clumsy and expensive. this rant has started because of the stupidity of iTunes. This has to be the worst pile crap I think I have ever seen. I’m a developer and I specialize in UI design and theirs sucks. Do they even have a QA department? Did they put this stuff through a focus group ever? And the worst part is, they make their crap so proprietary that you have to use it so why is it so wildly popular? If it weren’t for the ipod interface in my car I wouldn’t own one. I had mine less than a year and it crapped out. What happens after the year warranty is up and it craps out again? I hope the masses smarten up and stop settling for this stuff.
