EDIT: Updated for 2023. Cleveland winning a championship got me to thinking about my teams that I follow and how long it’s been. Sometimes being a completely loyal supporter sucks.

Dolphins – 1973 – 49 Years
Capitals – 2018 – 4 Years (I cried, damn it felt good)
Wizards – 1978 – 44 Years
Pirates – 1979 – 43 Years
Penn State Football – 1986 – 36 Years
Red Devils – 2014 – 8 years (Long time for them)

Yep, not surprised at all. So many times this team has let the fans down and last night was no exception. Just too many stupid, asinine mistakes but again why should any Dolphins fan be surprised. We’re not. We’re used to it and frankly a little numb to it. Well on to hockey season
How about them Caps … Oh wait, they stunk it up the other night against their bitter rival. Yea, not so great a week.

OK fine, I’m sucked back in by your new attitude and the last two games. Shame on you for not playing like this before but I get it when your work environment sucks and you have no faith in the people running the ship.
This is a huge game, on national TV, against a divisional opponent. DON’T LAY ANOTHER FUCKING EGG … AGAIN!!!!! You don’t have to win. I don’t know if this team is there yet but you must compete. Don’t embarrass us fans again. If you do, I’m done until you make the play offs. Even if that is 10 years from now.

There is a lot of talk lately about whether Ryan Tannehill is the Dolphins answer at quarterback. My take is that I just don’t know. He shows flashes of brilliance but when he does have opportunities He sometimes has a tendency to miss open guys. He did again this week and that is not a good thing to have happen, especially when they are far and few between. I guess that is the real issue. Brady can miss a wide open guy, which he does occasionally, and it is OK because on the next play there is somebody else wide open. Not in Miami. There is not enough talent around the QB to really evaluate him. No, I’m not saying Tannehill is as good as Brady. We don’t know that yet. But he might be. Hard to tell at this point. I see a team that other teams now have on tape and know how to play and there is not enough talent to overcome the game planning. That falls squarely in the GM’s lap. He better have one hell of an off season.

Really?? That’s the best you could do? Big game. National TV. All of the football worlds’ eyes upon you and … and … you … *$^&#@! stink up the joint… AGAIN!!!

Across the board they were awful. Don’t tell me that Henne had a great game. He stunk. Receivers made some great catches to help him out. Highlight reel stuff. Is he going to get that every week? I think not. He was high and wide most of the night and he couldn’t (and can’t) throw a fade pass to save his life. One play in particular keeps replaying for me and illustrates the point. Marshall was running a crossing pattern and the other receivers had cleared out that side of the field. It was a brilliantly designed play and was the perfect call. Henne was late allowing the Safety to recover but even beyond that Marshall may have still been able to beat him except he had to slow down and reach behind him to catch the ball. If that ball is on the money and hits him in stride he is still running with it. The 13 yard gain was nice but a 60 yard TD would have been better. He’s inaccurate and that’s the worst thing that a QB can be.

Oh Reggie, come save us. Puuuullllleeeeaaaaassssseeeeee!!!!! Gawd he was awful. Haynesworth, one arm tackle, all you need to know.

Defense was so bad I just don’t know where to start. First, Vontae Davis, shut up. You think Brady didn’t hear that and say I’ll show him just how damn good he is? You can think that all you want but don’t put it in the papers as bulletin board fodder. Cam, WHERE THE HELL WHERE YOU LAST NIGHT. It was a freakin rookie across from you. Seriously. Jason, you were great with Zach but you diss’d the fans when you went to the Jets and now you’ve done it again by coming back. Please retire. And last but not least, you were gassed in the fourth quarter? At home? Really. What kind of conditioning drills have you been doing? The Pats do this all the time. It’s not like it was something new that they just pulled out of a hat and you didn’t know they were going to do it. There wasn’t a plan to handle it? Shame on you Tony.

And I will even tell you who is to blame. It was very obvious where the problem lies with this team. They were out gunned and out played at almost every position on the field. This falls on Jeff Ireland. Other than Jake, every personnel move has been suspect at best. After last night, if heads don’t roll today, then this team has no hope. Of course knowing them, they could have the first pick and not select Luck. It would fit their MO.

I’m going to go against my normal trend here and stick up for a spoiled athlete. I think the felony charge against Plaxico is overkill. The DA coming out and saying he absolutely wants jail time for him is grandstanding and says, Hey look at me, I’m prosecuting a high profile case. Look, was the guy stupid? Yea he was, but there really was no ill intent and although I don’t understand this whole thing, a lot of pro athletes feel they have to protect themselves. I guess I get that they are a target but I sort of feel that goes with the territory and you shouldn’t put yourself in those situations but at that age I did really dumb stuff too and wouldn’t have done what someone told me. Give the guy his fine, put him on probation and go about your way.

In a word, bigger. Receivers, Corner, TE and NT are all big. I like what they did and until they (Parcells and company) prove the world wrong these guys can play. One observation though. Either Cameron Wake is a stud and a half or JT is headed back to Miami.

Hmmmmm, where have I seen this before? A big game on the national stage. Running game was totally inept. Defense played great early but got tired. Stupid, bad penalties at the worst possible time. A quarterback that made bad mistakes with the game on the line. Take the names off the jerseys and wind the clock back 2 years. That was what we saw Thursday night. Wanny ball all over again. God I hope this isn’t a preminition of how the season is going to go. Then again I had that thought 2 years ago too. By the way, it was Tennesseee and the score was 17 – 7 and the Dolphins finished 4 – 12 that season.
