Finally! No suspense. No snickers. No WTF are they doing. No bull shit. The Dolphins take a guy they hope will be a cornerstone of the offensive line for years to come. (As much as you can predict those things) They start in the right place instead of trying to make a splash with a reach. Well Tuna, you are 2 for 2. Keep it up.
The media wants us all to think the war in Iraq is all shit. Candidates for president are running on platforms that they will bring our troops home no matter what the cost. Maybe they should read more articles like this. Stake Through Their Hearts. The Iraqi’s are winning this war. They are fed up with the violence and oppression. No I don’t like war and I wish the world could find a way to coexist without all the strife and fighting and I want our troops to come home as soon as possible but I also think the media fear machine is out of hand.
So Barry is now the home run king. For some reason this really upsets a lot of people. Let’s face it. People aren’t morally upset that he juiced. They’re upset because he is an ass. Everyone knows that Sammy and Mark juiced too but no one cares. They are still beloved because they are nice guys. Hammerin Hank is revered because he is classy guy. Suck it up America. Barry juiced in the juiced era. So what!
By all indications yes. Recently I sent an email to my Congressmen explaining my situation concerning a visa application and bemoaning the inordinate amount of time it seems to take for no reason. The response I got had absolutely nothing to do with my request and only one of the four I wrote to responded at all. Every where I turn I see bureaucracy and waste. I know this really is nothing new but it seems to be ramped up to gargantuan proportions lately.
Ahhh, I was such a naive pup back in 2006 when I complained about immigration. If you thought it was bad reading the last post well I am here to tell you it is worse. Think about every stereotype you can think of for a government and well there you have it. The process is inefficient, expensive and complicated. And once you are finally approved in the United States then the whole thing goes to the American consulate in the country where your fiancee is a citizen of and starts again. And just because they are inefficient you have to sit around for months waiting for them to take their sweet ass time to schedule an interview which takes all of 10 minutes. You get no preferential treatment because you are a United States citizen. Your in-line with the student visa requests and such. And you would think after all that time they could give you a reasonable amount of notice that your interview date is coming up. Oh contraire. Nope 2 – 3 weeks and give a week for mail delivery. We are so unfortunate that she is a citizen of that third world country of Canada. We know they have no technology and couldn’t possibly do the computer database look ups that need to take place. The fact that they can’t schedule an interview date when they receive your paperwork is just beyond me. What a freaking joke.
There has been very intense media coverage lately concerning immigration and specifically illegal immigrants. I can tell you the reason there are so many illegals here and the answer is quite easy. The reason people come here illegally is because it is so damn hard to get here the correct way. It is complicated, limited and expensive. If you don’t believe me look at the US immigration site (www.uscis.gov) sometime and check out what it takes to legally immigrate to the US. We live in the greatest country in the world IMHO but we have this all wrong. I’m not saying we should give these people amnesty. I’m saying we should make it easier for them to come here in the first place. Let them pay taxes and contribute. We, as a country, are spending ridiculous amounts of money and resources on finding these people. When we do find them we spend more money and resources arresting and or deporting them or trying to keep them out in the first place. It’s just stupid. Let’s take that money and do something good with it like educating them so they can become even more productive members of our country.
Hmmmmm, where have I seen this before? A big game on the national stage. Running game was totally inept. Defense played great early but got tired. Stupid, bad penalties at the worst possible time. A quarterback that made bad mistakes with the game on the line. Take the names off the jerseys and wind the clock back 2 years. That was what we saw Thursday night. Wanny ball all over again. God I hope this isn’t a preminition of how the season is going to go. Then again I had that thought 2 years ago too. By the way, it was Tennesseee and the score was 17 – 7 and the Dolphins finished 4 – 12 that season.
I sent this out to my guild and friends mailing list for WoW (World of Warcaft for those of you not in the MMORPG loop). They thought it was pretty funny so I decided to post it here.
“There is no cow level.” This is what Blizzard told me last night when I finally got to log into the game. You know, it’s bad enough that the game is crashing every 15 minutes and that it takes decades some times to actually log in and retrieve a character list but that fact that they just flat out lie to us in the game tips is irreprehensable. I know for a fact they are. I saw it last night with my own two eyes (and a tool tip). Let me explain.
When I finally got to retrieve my character list from Kargath and had not been assigned to a different, “less populated” realm, I figured I would run Grand down to Goldshire from Stormwind to turn in a quest I have had on the quest log books for 3 or 4 levels now. Thank goodness I was in Stormwind and not somewhere I could go AFK while waiting for the game to load and find out once the interface came up that some Ogre that got up on the wrong side of the cave had aggro’d on me and decided I would look nice as a trophy for the misses. So off I go and since I am level 30 I figure the heck with the road I’ll just run straight down through the trees. OK actually I avoided the trees but whatever. Any ways, I happen to pass a cow. Yes you heard me a real live (well as live as bits and pixels can be) cow. I remembered the hint as the games loaded. Actually it was sort of hard to forget since the screen was there so long. I believe there were 2 beer runs and a munchie break in the load screen time frame. So I see this cow and well the temptation was just too overwhelming and I moved my cursor to hover over the cow. The realization of that moment hit me like a Glowing Brightwood Staff and Grands faith has been severely shaken. As a matter of fact he is seriously considering becoming a Shaman now! (Froooossssst Shoooock!) I guess you can gather what I am getting at by now. “There is no cow level” is a lie. I saw it. The tool tip confirmed the cold hard facts. Cows are level 5. 🙂
I don’t get it. I just can’t figure out what the attraction of reality tv is. Why is someone else’s misfortune or stupidity funny. OK stupidity can be very funny but it doen’t change the fact that this stuff doesn’t do anything for me. It’s all of it too. Everything from Survivor to American Idol. It’s just dumb. And the vast majority of America just eats it up. Hmmm, maybe most of America is dumb. I take that back not dumb but uneducated.
Don’t take this wrong but I hate the Patriots. I thought the Bills and Jets were bad but these guys just get to me. I’m not really sure why either. Maybe it is because they make it look so easy. Just disgusting.
